I absolutely love Street Style posts. They’re perfect for showing how average people adapt trends and play with style, which is beneficial for both fashion designers who want to see how their fashion is worn and for everyday shoppers who want some inspiration. There’s something confidence-boosting knowing that the people you see every day can “pull it off,” so, you should be able to as well — especially when the post notes where the fashion was bought. That top was only £8? Shopping time!
Here’s a collection of my favourite street style blogs (in no particular order). If I missed yours, sorry! Go ahead and share a link in the comments.
Laura Ashley has some incredible made-to-measure furniture, including upholstery and window treatments (although, my all time favourite thing is their wall paper!). From now until 5th September, get 20% off all home products.
I took a peek through their Inspirational Roomsets. They show you how to put together all sorts of looks – all with lovely names like French Fancy, Brighton Beautiful and Silk Road. In each image, you can hover over certain images to get their info. My favourite is the Free Spirit – isn’t it charming?
Which roomset do you fancy?

The weather is getting cooler, and the days are getting shorter. That can only mean one thing – it’s time to go back to school!
Whether going back to school brings you overwhelming excitement or horrible anxiety, one thing is certain: back to school means back to school shopping! It’s not only time start hitting the books, but it’s time to get your wardrobe back in check so you can go back in style.
Check out these three back to school looks to get you inspired for every occasion. From move-in day to your first night out, you’ll be looking stylish…and with some extra money to spend!
Outfit #1: First Day of Class
Going to class during the first week of school is always interesting. In the beginning, you need to arrive early or else you’ll miss out on a seat and end up sitting beside the professor (true story). Then by the end of the year, the rooms are practically empty.
Impress them on the first day with this studious and chic look. Even if they don’t stick around the rest of the semester, you’ll still leave ‘em with a lasting impression.

You’ll want to look your best and make a good impression when meeting your new roommates. So try out this style. It’s comfortable and functional for moving all those boxes, but also sweet and stylish, just in case you run into any cute boys on campus.

Outfit #3: First Night Out
This look is made for your first night out at the club. Just remember to bring along a pair of flats! Heels on a dance floor at 2am are killer, and stumbling around with blisters on your feet is not cute…trust me. So, start out your night looking polished and graceful…even if it doesn’t end that way.
Clockwise from top left: Mini Flower Ring, £6.50, TopShop; Bow Skirt Bustier Dress, £55.00, Lipsy; Bow Top Purse, £8.00, M&Co; Martina Heels, £20.00, Fashion Union; Carved Rose Stud Earrings, £1.75, Miss Selfridge.

Which look is your favourite? Do you have any back to school shopping tips you’d like to share?
With autumn upon us, campuses across the country will once again be flooded with eager students. Don’t want to be lost in the crowd? These three back to school outfit ideas for young gents are guaranteed to make you stand out.
Outfit #1: The Doctor
Matt Smith’s stylish leading role in Doctor Who has been making fashion waves with young men across the UK. Rocking this look is easy, and it has the added bonus of making you look that much more intelligent. Just keep the signature bowtie for pub crawls; it’ll look a touch too stuffy while you’re taking notes in class.
Clockwise from top left: Dr. Denim Ian Long Shirt, £19.99, Urban Outfitters; Lee Dexter Blue Reborn Jeans, £39.99, Urban Outfitters; Red Clip-on Braces, £10.00, Clermont Direct; Red Pre-tied Bowtie, £5.00, Clermont Direct; Black Cotton Pump, £7.99, Urban Outfitters; Round Reader Glasses, £4.99, Urban Outfitters.
Vouchers to use before you shop: Urban Outfitters.
Total cost of look: £87.96
Outfit #2: The Grey Kid
One of the hottest ways to get noticed this autumn is to go grey. Accent dark grey trousers and a black coat with a light grey top, or make a dark top stand out with grey slacks. Either way, you’ll definitely be turning heads in the quad.
Clockwise from top left: Junk Food Make More Art Tee, £9.99; Dr. Denim Snap Fit Grey Jean, £45.00; Dr. Denim Greg Stripe Cardigan, £19.99; White Cotton Pump, £7.99; River Up Reversible Beanie, £9.99; Urban Outfitters.
Vouchers to use before you shop: Urban Outfitters.
Total cost of look: £92.96
Outfit #3: The Sherlock
Need an easy look that will compliment any gentleman? It’s elementary! Thanks to the 2009 Robert Downey Jr. film and BBC’s recent miniseries reinvention, this scholarly but youthful look has definitely become in vogue. This modern twist on the classic sleuth is great for both lectures and nights out with your blokes.
Clockwise from top left: Black Utility Jacket, £36.00, Burton; Fila Mens Long Sleeve Shirt Top, £14.65, Amazon; Plaid Scarf, £4.99, Urban Outfitters; Herringbone Driver £9.99, Urban Outfitters; Cord Trousers £12.00, Matalan; Black Check Plimsolls £18.00, Burton.

Total cost of look: £95.63
It’s almost back-to-school time, and your savings account might be hurting. That’s why it’s lovely that a Caffe Uno and Brasserie Gerard have both offered free 3-course meals for students!
You’ll receive a printable coupon for each entitling you to your free meal. Both offers expire 31st August 2010 and aren’t available on the 30th August Bank Holiday.
If we find more student printables, we’ll definitely post them here, so check back soon!
Katy Perry’s blue hair is in this fall! I’m lying, that would be a tragic thing for all your white shirts. But her soft side-swoop bangs are in. Check out these fall 2010 hair trends and either head to the salon for a snip or style your tresses at home. Best of all, these hot styles are wallet friendly too as they need minimal products – done and done!

Bangs Are Back
Can’t say I’m too excited about this one as I finally grew out my bangs from two years back. But, a little fringe really does go a long way when it comes to framing your face in a stylish way. What’s in for fall is not the bold Lady Gaga bang; instead, a soft side swoop that graces your temple. These are great because they’re cut a little longer, so pinning them back or to the side is easy when you’re in a rush.

Bohemian Side Braid
Believe it or not, the messier, dirtier and more tangled your hair, the better the braid (texture is what makes the look). It’s perfect for the morning after a night of partying when you look… a little rough. You can pull off a dressy look like Rachel McAdams, or keep things casual too. Here’s a tutorial for at-home styling.

Pretty in Pixie
This is for you brave divas; I don’t have the guts to do this. But this fall, the pixie cut is back. In early August, Harry Potter’s grown-up and gorgeous Emma Watson chopped her tresses into this soft, pretty pixie. You’d need a lot of trust in your stylist, so if you love yours and love this look, go for it! Emma describes her new look as “liberating”; maybe you’ll feel the same after getting rid of the mop.

Straight Like Kate
Time to bust out the straightening irons again! This fall, straight stresses are in again, but the 70s centre-part, like Kate in this photo, is what completes the look. Make sure you arm yourself with a hair serum that protects hair from heating tools – this might be a look you do often as it can be dressy or casual.

Collarbone Bob
Just when you thought this fall’s trends offered only two dramatic extremes (long or super sort), the medium-length bob comes back to rescue you. Last summer, the angled under-the-chin bob was in – now, a chic, slightly -layered look that ends at the collar bone is the request in salons. Besides the bohemian braid (my mornings require easy styling), this is my favourite look – it’s pretty , feminine and I can still tie a ponytail if I want to.
So, think you’re daring enough for the pixie cut? What will your look be this fall?
Happy Friday! It’s almost the weekend. That means it’s time to get caught up on the weeks top style news, tips and trends.

Autumn battles it out against summer as my favourite season purely because it involves boots.
This year, boots were exceptionally hot on the runway, and a number of different styles have emerged. Check out my affordable boot picks for each trend!
One of the biggest trends this fall is menswear for women. For footwear, this means taking the traditional men’s oxford look and making it ultra femme. A stacked heel, peep toe and delicate laces does the trick.
Black Lace-up Shoe Boot, £40, Dorothy Perkins (get bargains)
This trend’s a bit reminiscent of 90s fashion. In fact, Doc Marten’s (paired with floral dresses?) are a hot commodity right now. The boot we chose here is a much more affordable option. I’m totally in love with the colour.
Chocolate Lace-up Ankle Boot, £43, Dorothy Perkins (get bargains)
Notice a trend after three boots? Yes, laces are back (we’re all for them since they allow for a more custom fit). This boot has some added flavour with buckles, and the shade is divine.
Brown Lace-up Buckle Boot, £45, Dorothy Perkins (get bargains)
Go a bit military in these simple knee-high black side-zip boots. We chose a flat boot since they’re popular again this season and will save your feet…and knees…and back…
Black Zip Knee Boot, £48, Dorothy Perkins (get bargains)
I’m not loving this trend of fur-trimmed boots personally, but I know some women who swoon over this style. Just don’t pair them with aviator jackets; it’s oo much a good thing or something.
Lace Up Cuff Boot, £29.99, New Look (get bargains)
I loved this look last season, and I love it again. There’s something so chic about a good over-the-knee boot. Be careful with purchasing heeled boots, which can struggle to look sophisticated. I opted for a fun tassled boot with edgy back-of-the-knee buckles. This might not be a boot that you’ll consider next year (as with most super trendy items), but the inexpensive price means you can totally work it this autumn.
Over The Knee Tassle Boot, £35, Barratts (get bargains)
This short ankle boot is definitely popular among Hipsters and is another menswear option. Pair them with opaque tights, a dress and a cozy cardigan to make these boots look anything but manly.
Woven Edge Ankle Boots, £32, Urban Outfitters (get bargains)
